How much energy does a home electric pizza oven consume?

“How much does it consume and how much does it cost me on the bill?” and, above all, “Do I risk blowing the electricity as soon as I turn it on?”. These are the first fears we all had before taking the big leap. We often think that a 510°C oven either an energy "drainer" that requires special contracts or to disconnect everything else in the house.

Actually, Macte Ovens They are made especially for home cooking: They're so insulated that, once hot, they consume much less energy than you might imagine. You can bake your Neapolitan pizza with complete peace of mind, without having to choose between the pizza and the washing machine.

Actual consumption: can I manage with my 3 kW meter?

The short answer is: yes, no problem. Even if you see "3 kW" on paper (for the Twin and Nettuno models), that is the power the oven requires only initially to heat up.

Once it reaches the right temperature, the oven begins to modulate: consumption is halved and energy expenditure becomes completely manageable. Here are the real, field-tested numbers.

Real consumption of Macte Ovens models

Here are the values medium in use (excluding preheating), tested under real-world conditions:

Modello Potenza assorbita Consumo preriscaldamento (25–35 min) Consumo medio in cottura (90 sec/pizza) Quanto mi costa sfornare 15 pizze in una serata?
Voyager Smart 1.975 kW max 0,9625 kWh 1,2 kW (0,03 kWh/pizza) ~1,00€ solo resistenza superiore
Voyager Twin Standard 2.975 kW max 1,487 kWh 1,5 kW (0,02 kWh/pizza) 1,20 – 1,40€ doppia resistenza
Voyager Twin Advanced 2.975 kW max 1,4 kWh 1,5 kW (0,02 kWh/pizza) 1,20 – 1,40€ doppia resistenza
Nettuno Standard 2.975 kW max 1,7 kWh 1,5 kW (0,02 kWh/pizza) 1,20 – 1,40€ doppia resistenza
Nettuno Advanced 2.975 kW max 1,7 kWh 1,5 kW (0,02 kWh/pizza) 1,20 – 1,40€ doppia resistenza

Why does a Macte consume less energy than your home oven?

It may seem incredible, but a 500°C oven can save you money compared to a "traditional" one. Here's why:

  1. It does not disperse heat: While a built-in oven heats the kitchen cabinet more than the baking tray, Macte ovens are insulated like pizzeria ovens. The heat stays inside, where it's needed.
  2. It's a splinter: In a normal oven, pizza cooks in 12-15 minutes. Here you take it out of the oven in 60-90 seconds. Resistors work for an infinitely shorter time.
  3. Smart management: Once the stone is red hot (the "platea"), you can also turn off the resistor underneath and use only the one above (the "cielo") for the final blow to the ledge.

Tips for minimizing electric oven consumption

  • Preheat with closed door (Yes save 40%).
  • Keep the door closed during cooking (90 sec max).

All the Macte Ovens ovens I am Made in Italy and ready for use on a 230V domestic network without any adjustments.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Absolutely. Although the most powerful models can reach nearly 3 kW, this peak occurs only during preheating (the first 25-30 minutes). Once the oven is hot, consumption stabilizes at around 1.5 kW. The only advice is to avoid turning on other heavy appliances (such as a washing machine or air conditioner) only during the initial heating phase.

Less than you think. Once the oven has reached the desired temperature, cooking a pizza for 90 seconds costs on average between 1 and 2 euro cents (calculating an energy cost of 0,25€/kWh). The biggest expense is the initial "full tank" to heat it, which costs around 0.35-0,40€. In practice, a pizza night for the whole family costs you less than a coffee on your bill.

Yes, the Advanced models are slightly more efficient thanks to PID digital control. While standard ovens turn the heating elements on and off sharply, the PID system modulates the energy with pinpoint precision, sending only the power strictly necessary to maintain a constant temperature. This avoids waste and unnecessary heat spikes, optimizing overall energy consumption.
